How and when did you get into trail running?

I got into trail running many years ago because of my love for the outdoors.   I started with hiking and walking in nature and wanted to explore more challenging terrain. The allure of trails—beautiful scenery, fresh air, and the thrill of pushing your limits—drew me in.  It has been a great way to stay fit or relieve stress, because trail running offers a unique combination of physical exercise and mental clarity. Connecting with a community of fellow trail runners has further fueled my passion.

What is your favorite memory with ITR?

One of my most cherished memories with ITR is undoubtedly my inaugural Tecumseh race, where I achieved a podium finish. The entire experience was exhilarating, especially since I have a deep appreciation for Yellowwood and the joy of camping. The weekend was filled with remarkable moments that made it truly unforgettable. Among the highlights was the incredible aid station, which offered the best support and refreshments I could have asked for. The combination of the beautiful setting, the thrill of competition, and the camaraderie made this event a standout in my journey with ITR.

Do you have a favorite trail?

I would say Yellowwood offers the best trails.

Are you currently training and planning for any races or adventures?

Over the past year, I faced several injuries that interrupted my running routine. However, I am gradually returning to outdoor running and rediscovering my passion for it. I have set my sights on participating in the Tecumseh run this October, and I am also considering adding the Jackson County run to my schedule. This journey back to running excites me as I look forward to the challenges and experiences that lie ahead.

Bucket list place you want to explore?

Someday I would like to run Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon.  It is not only a challenging race but definitely one I would need to train for.
